Category Manager Hydrogen – New Solutions Procurement Team

Vattenfall aims at being Fossil-fuel free within one generation. One track in this ambition is Green Hydrogen in applications such as integration with offshore wind turbines, production of fuel for heavy transport or aviation, or hydrogen as a means to decarbonize industries or heat / power production.

Therefore, the NES Procurement team is looking for the right person to take on the role as Category Manager for the Hydrogen procurement category to support these ambitions and lead the sourcing and supply chain initiatives. The scope includes all components and works needed to build the hydrogen facility. 

Technological lead, time to market and cost competitiveness are absolutely crucial to succeed in this immature market. The Category Manager Hydrogen needs to build engagement and relationships with  new suppliers markets, understand the roadmap for technical and cost developments and create new and efficient supply chains from electrolyser and compressors to electric works and installation. Experience from large, complex, technically advanced projects and sourcing in international highly strategic projects is key, as well as experience from building up a new business area and carve out the right role in an emerging area.

A successful candidate needs to collaborate well with other colleges from same or different departments, adopt an agile way of working and show ability to handle a complex organisation and projects.

In this role you will report to the Procurement Manager of New Energy Solutions (NES) and become college with Category Managers and strategic buyers within the categories Solar, Batteries, Heat pumps and EV-charging infrastructure. NES categories are characterized by the need to balance speed & adaptability with Vattenfall global procurement processes and to coordinate supply chains between different BA’s. The NES Procurement team is a cross-BA, cross-market team with a broad responsibility handle sourcing of hardware to logistics, installation. 

Key responsibilities as Category Manager Hydrogen is to develop the Vattenfall Category Strategy Hydrogen with key business stakeholders regarding value creation & saving potentials, supply chain options, new sourcing channels, supplier development and innovation, capturing synergies across BA’s / markets / categories – and to develop and execute on specific sourcing strategies for Hydrogen components & installations together with Business units.

Basic qualifications:
• Relevant University degree within engineering, economics, business administration, law etc.
• At least 8 years of relevant work experience, including large international sourcing projects, preferable in hydrogen area or otherwise energy or heavy industry
• Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is required.

Location: Flexible (Solna, Amsterdam, London or Berlin).
